Pomona is Danish cider made from Danish quality eating and cooking apples. We have been inspired by British and French cider. Cider which is the wine of the apple! Pomona has of cause got its own Danish character.

Pomona should be served chilled in a tall glass as a starter, as aperitif, for lunch, for cheese, for fish or for poultry. In brief: a fresh alternative to a glass of white wine or a beer.

Pomona is full and aromatic with a balance between the sweetness and the acidity from the apples. The aroma is very fruity with notes of apples and flowers and a nutty finish. The light carbonation gives the cider a pleasant freshness.

In order to preserve the high quality in the flavours of the apples we have used apple juice, which has not been concentrated. We have neither added flavours, nor colours, nor preservatives.

Made in the garden of Denmark

Pomona is made in close cooperation with Oerbaek Juice Factory situated on the Danish island Funen - also known to be the garden of Denmark. The climate and soil conditions on Funen is well suited for apple growing. Our cider is fermented on juice from varieties like Ingrid Marie, James Grieve, Gloster, Rogers MacIntosch, Golden Delicious, Mutsu, Belle de Boskoop, Gravensteiner and Ingbo.

The apples are washed with water, milled and pressed to juice. A little sugar is added and the juice is fermented by a selected yeast giving Pomona cider the aromatic character and at the same time keeps the fresh taste of apples. During the fermentation the yeast transform sugar in the apple juice and the added sugar to alcohol and carbon dioxide. In order to soften the sharp acidity in the apples the cider is stored with a selected lactic acid culture. Further improvement of the flavour is obtained by adding unfermented apple juice. In the end the cider is filtered, carbonated and bottled into glass bottled, which are pasteurised.
